As they continue to grow and expand their operations, they are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join the team as a Reinsurance Operations Manager, hybrid working in the Dublin office.

The role is responsible for leading the Company’s reinsurance accountants who are directly responsible for handling all contract bookings, cash transactions and processing aspects of claim notifications. The Reinsurance Operations Manager working collaboratively with other members of the finance team and counterparts in Ireland and globally in relation to regular responsibilities and segment wide initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, enhance and maintain process documentation to facilitate training, learning and support of the reinsurance accounting team
  • Provide technical support to reinsurance accountants and the underwriting team in relation to treatment of complex or unique contracts, documenting such support in a manner to facilitate learning and future ease of application
  • Foster and support a culture within the reinsurance accounting team that strives for the highest quality technical data
  • Set goals, monitor performance, and conduct formal performance appraisals for the reinsurance accounting team
  • Monitor the reinsurance accounting team to ensure reinsurance accounting transactions are captured appropriately, accurately, and completely in a timely manner in the reinsurance accounting system
  • Continuously seek process efficiencies and propose implementation, work re-organization plans
  • Undertake and support internal projects related to reinsurance transactional data, processes, systems migrations, or enhancements.
  • Attend and participate in QCR meetings

Qualifications and Experience required

  • Professional accounting qualification ACA, ACCA with a minimum of 5 – 8 years of post-qualification experience
  • Extensive experience in a large commercial reinsurer
  • Experience in assessing technical accounting queries and providing guidance
  • Knowledge of SQL database coding, Reinsurance Accounting systems a distinct advantage
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP / IFRS for insurance and reinsurance
  • Strong ability to deliver results under deadlines and competing objectives
  • Bias towards action and self-directed
