Fleet, Tool & Plant Procurement Lead

West of Dublin with plenty of EU travel

I am seeking an experienced Procurement professional to join a high-performing function supporting complex engineering and construction projects across Europe.

Based in Ireland, this senior role will require significant travel to project sites across Europe. As the function continues to expand and evolve, you will play a key role in supporting business growth, driving strategic procurement initiatives, and delivering a consistent, scalable procurement service across multiple regions and projects.

The ideal candidate will bring tooling, plant and fleet expertise, strong commercial acumen, and enjoy a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment. This is an excellent opportunity to influence strategy, optimise supplier relationships, and contribute to the ongoing development of a critical operational function.

You will be responsible for the following: -

  • Deliver best‑in‑class procurement performance through professional, competitive, and efficient buying processes, controls, and systems
  • Develop and implement fleet, tool, and plant procurement strategies covering purchase, hire, lease, maintenance, and disposal
  • Lead the strategic purchase and hire of fleet, plant, and tools to maximise utilisation and minimise total cost of ownership
  • Manage supplier sourcing, tendering, and commercial negotiations, including framework agreements, rebates, and strategic partnerships
  • Ensure quality, compliance, and timely delivery of fleet, tool, and plant assets aligned with project and operational requirements
  • Conduct bid evaluations, commercial analysis, and make approval recommendations for procurement activity
  • Create and maintain fleet, tool, and plant procurement plans aligned with project teams and operational demand
  • Monitor and report on spend, utilisation, savings, supplier performance, and compliance
  • Drive asset reallocation and recovery across projects to reduce external hire and excess spend
  • Oversee disposal, resale, or write‑off of surplus or end‑of‑life assets in line with policy and financial controls
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, audit requirements, and authority matrices
  • Build strong working relationships with project teams, site management, plant departments, finance, supply chain partners, and senior stakeholders
  • Conduct regular site visits and engage directly with project teams
  • Support and deliver other duties as required by the Line Manager

Essential

  • 10 years' procurement experience, with expertise in fleet, tools, and plant
  • Previous experience in a similar role within an engineering or construction environment
  • Excellent commercial acumen with proven negotiation experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team towards shared objectives
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (50%) across Europe without the need for visas and also that you can drive a car there too.

Desirable

  • Third‑level qualification in Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related discipline
  • Previous SAP experience and experience leading or developing a team
  • Knowledge of construction tools and plant categories
