Senior Financial Accountant

Sanderson is partnering with a leading reinsurance organisation to recruit a talented and detail-focused Senior Financial Accountant to join their expanding finance team, hybrid working in Dublin. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant to take on a broad and impactful role, contributing to both financial and regulatory reporting while collaborating closely with underwriting, operations, and senior stakeholders.

As a key member of the finance function, you will play an integral role in supporting core accounting activities, producing high-quality financial outputs, and driving continuous improvements across processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out reconciliations across reinsurance underwriting systems
• Oversee retrocession accounting for quota share arrangements, including related cash settlements
• Partner with reinsurance and MGA teams to analyse and interpret underwriting activity
• Review and analyse financial performance, contributing to quarterly reporting packs for senior management
• Prepare and review quarterly financial results in line with US GAAP
• Support group reporting requirements and regulatory submissions
• Maintain and strengthen SOX controls and associated documentation
• Act as a primary liaison for both internal and external audit processes
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
• Contribute to finance system upgrades and implementation initiatives

Skills & Experience

• Professionally qualified accountant ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CIMA with at least 3-5 years' post-qualification experience
• Proven experience within the insurance or reinsurance industry is essential
• Strong background in reinsurance financial reporting is highly advantageous
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, international environment
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as Solvency II is an advantage
