Programme Manager - Renewables Planning & Development

A new opportunity has arisen to Project Manage the team who are overseeing the planning and consents for large renewable energy projects across Ireland.

You will be responsible for: -

Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and lead planning and consenting strategy for development pipeline.
  • Advise senior leadership and align planning with company goals and regulations.
  • Shape governance for site selection and investment decisions.
  • Engage with regulators and policy makers to influence planning frameworks.
  • Represent the company at government level, and in legal challenges etc .

Planning Application Delivery

  • Oversee planning applications and consents across all project stages.
  • Own consenting strategy and ensure alignment with commercial timelines.
  • Monitor and resolve planning risks with legal and executive support.

Project Management

  • Lead delivery of multiple complex infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure compliance with planning, environmental legislation, and policy.
  • Manage procurement and contracts for planning and environmental services.

Stakeholder & Regulatory Managment

  • Represent company in consultations and public engagement.
  • Manage any partner relationships and contractual commitments.
  • Build relationships with statutory authorities and government bodies.
  • Lead community and consultation processes.
  • Participate in national industry forums and working groups.

Team Leadership

  • Grow a high-performing planning and environmental team.
  • Guide the team across development, environmental assessment, stakeholder engagement, statutory processes.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Manage external advisors and consultant relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and welfare standards.
  • Participate in performance management to meet team objectives.

Education:

  • 3rd Level Degree in Env. Science, Engineering, env planning, etc.
  • Circa 10+ years in renewable energy project development.
  • Proven success in planning, consenting and delivery.
  • Experience with large-scale infrastructure and multi-stakeholder projects.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Irish/EU planning laws and environmental regulations.
  • Familiarity with renewable technologies, grid systems, and energy markets.

Project & Process Management

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with varying complexity.
  • Expertise in strategic planning and programme execution.

Leadership & Engagement

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communicator and negotiator at senior levels.

Personal Attributes

  • Creative, solutions-focused, and highly organised.
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
