Contracts Manager - Procurement

The Contract Manager position is responsible for contract development & mgt of all contractual documents, working ith the Sourcing Specialist, Suppliers, internal Legal Depts to negotiate & develop robust legal & commercial terms & conditions company’s suppliers.

  • Act as an advisor &/or expert for contract related issues & must apply critical thinking skills & work independently to make sound business decisions for company.
  • Expertise in interpretation of diverse contractual issues; identify potential risk factors; to consider for the execution of the Agreement.
  • The role also requires ongoing contract compliance & issue resolution as needed
  • Work closely with Internal Audit, Supplier's auditors to resolve contract compliance issues.

Contract Development:

  • Review Supplier requests for changes to T&Cs of contracts, assess risk of changes, & recommend response
  • Provide leadership in drafting & negotiating T&Cs with Suppliers
  • Act as the liaison & provide leadership among Sourcing Specialist, Business Partner, Legal & Supplier
  • Coordinate with Legal support to negotiate contract issue resolution with Supplier, & secure final approval
  • Work collaboratively to ensure that all contract document templates are properly prepared for RFPs
  • Resolve & respond to contractual supplier issues
  • Meet with Legal counsel to clarify & negotiate complex sourcing contractual issues Interpret contractual rights & obligations to partner/sourrcing

Contract Compliance:

  • Ensure that current standard language, changes etc are added to all contracts
  • Manage supplier dispute resolution through formal or informal dispute resolution channels
  • Consultation & escalation to senior mgt of current & potential issues

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering etc
  • Minimum of 6 years related experience in contract mgt or sourcing position
  • Strong interpersonal & client-service skills
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Issue resolution, negotiation & strong project mgt skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast moving dynamic & variable environment goals change frequently
  • Strong understanding of procurement contract clauses; contract risks & mitigation of these
  • Excellent contract drafting skills in areas of Statement of Work (SOW)

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Procurement Graduate; Barrister-at-Law, Solicitor, Master’s, or equivalent advanced degree is welcome
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) CPSM), (CPM) : IIPMM etc
  • Certifications from the National Contract Mgt Association, Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) ; Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) ; Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM)
  • Project Mgt Professional (PMP) from the Project Mgt Institute
  • Lean Six Sigma experience &/or certification
